Opensignal CEO, Brendan Gill, recently spoke to The Newsworthy Podcast about the benefits of 5G and the future of bandwidth technology. The fifth-generation network is on track to be a revolutionary technological advance – but it still has some ways to go.
One of the biggest benefits of the new network is speed increase; Mr Gill suggests that the speed could increase from 10 to 100x faster than the mobile connectivity typical consumers have access to today.
The faster speed and improved latency could translate to better technology intelligence due to the higher bandwidth which can help roll out revolutionary initiatives such as remote surgery and connected cars.
Mr Gill mentioned that it does not come without challenges such as, waiting for mobile network operators to actually roll out fifth generation networks, and consumers needing to update to new devices that are compatible with the new technology – but he believes that after this, 5G is set to be ubiquitous.
