Growing Up

Although my preference was always maths at school, I was clear that I didn’t want to work in a bank or finance. Instead, I looked for something with a practical application of numbers so started my career working in Operational Research for a big utility company on their graduate scheme. It was my experience here of poor management practices that ignited my interest in the role of culture in organisations and I moved on to work in a large HR team within Financial Services and have never looked back.

Experience

My career in HR functions spans some 30 years. Having started out working on the numbers side – manpower planning, process definition and improvement through to compensation and benefits and then progressed to leadership positions in financial services and then a different privatised utility. I then spent several years consulting working across a wide range of organisations in all sectors using my skills and experience to help leaders create the right culture to improve both engagement and performance. Latterly I was HR Director at Portakabin Ltd, the Pan-European Modular building manufacturer and supplier, part of the Shepherd Group, one of the UK’s largest and most profitable family-owned private businesses where I led the successful development of our people & culture approach and all health, safety and environmental activities.

At Frog Capital

Recently I have been working with Partners leading the people and culture-related due diligence of potential investments and providing strategic people advice to existing portfolio companies.

Positive Growth

Frog’s purpose-led approach is powerful and drives a positive culture both within Frog itself and through their scale-up methodology. I am excited to become part of the Frog team as one of their Operating Partners enabling me to continue to use my experience to support our portfolio companies throughout their scale-up journey thus ensuring the important role of people and culture in success receives the focus it deserves.
